The lion, the fawn and the elephants
I know of
A lion, who really is
a nervous cub
And then a fawn
whose false detachment
belies her care
Both are happy
when the other is around
But the lion is timid
and the fawn is proud
to ever admit so
There is an elephant
A real star whom
everyone knows of
But has yet seen
up close
Maybe one day
The fawn might
meet him and
the lion will
take heart
The fawn knows
another elephant
Her strong mate
who takes the wheel
when it matters
Maybe one day
the lion might
meet her and
the fawn will
take note
But maybe one day
The lion and the fawn
will be honest
And take charge
like elephants would
And maybe that day
is the start of
happily ever after
For two hearts
meant to be.
I try to think the grass is greener this side of the garden.
